After trying out so many foundations over the years and not getting the results that I wanted, I decided that drugstore and mid-range foundations might not be for me. So I went to Sephora and picked up a few samples of higher end foundations, and thankfully the SA who helped me out knew exactly what she was doing. *waves at Pearl!* She picked the right shades for me, and that is a SA first! I’m pleased with her suggestions, and when I go back to purchase some more items, I will make sure to work with her again. 🙂
Today’s contenders:
Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24H in 510 Suede
Diorskin Nude Skin-Glowing Makeup in 070
YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat in B80
These will be in order from least liked to most liked! Okay, let’s get started!
First up: Diorskin Nude Skin-Glowing Makeup (070)

Without flash…

With flash…
Pros: It blends in pretty smoothly, and you don’t need a lot of it when applying to your whole face. The color (without flash) when applied matches fairly well with my skin.
Cons: This formula is a little thicker than I’d thought it would be. When I tried to pour it out of the sample bottle, well, it wouldn’t actually pour out. I had to squeeze the bottle a few times to get enough of it onto my hand to test out. Also, I was not pleased with the fact that as soon as I frowned once, you could see lines on my forehead. My face looked fairly flawless in natural light – until I frowned. That’s not good. Another thing that I didn’t care for was that it still left a bit of a cast when using flash.

Ignore the tired expression…
As you can see, there are more cons than pros. 😦
Next up: Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24H (510 Suede)
Pros: It’s definitely lighter in texture than the Diorskin Nude, and it also blends very easily into my skin. I had no problems with getting this one out of the bottle! It looked even, and close to my own skin. Not cakey.
Cons: Transfers easily, but that can be handled by using a powder after application. I don’t think that this will actually last for 24 hours, even with powder.
And I saved the best for last: YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat w/ SPF 19 (B80)
Pros: Everything. It’s super lightweight, and I didn’t feel like I was even wearing any foundation, which is always a plus for me. It’s like my skin, but even better. It claims to have a luminous effect, and I can agree that this will give you that look. I love looking dewy as opposed to matte, but that’s just me. This one did not settle into the fine lines, which I can appreciate. Flawless finish.
Cons: None as far as I’m concerned! 🙂
Obviously the YSL was my favorite of the three. And true to form, I would end up liking the most expensive one. *sigh* It’s the story of my life! But I will definitely be going back to purchase this one and probably the Lancome, as I rather liked that one as well. I’m so happy to have finally found something that works well for me! The Great Foundation Search is over! I’ll be right back…I have to go and do a happy dance now. 🙂
