A Taste of Red Velvet…

Lime Crime’s Velvetine in Red Velvet, that is. Not the cake. Gaaaaah, I wish I had cake right now. *heavy sigh*

This is just a quick note, as I’ve finally figured out how to make Red Velvet work for me, and I’m happy about it! I lightly filled in my lips with a lip liner in a berry color, and then did one application of the Velvetine. Used the liner again to touch up a few areas (around the edges), and then applied the Velvetine one more time. And that was it!

I must say…I love it.  🙂

Foundation Semi-Fails…

I, like many others, am always on the quest to find the perfect foundation. I’ve come across a few that were close, but never a foundation that was a perfect match. Not for my summer tanned face, and not for my winter face. Never. Maybe I’ll find a winner someday, but today is clearly not that day! I bought several foundation samples awhile back from Camera Ready Cosmetics, and picked up a couple of full-sized products as well. How well did they work? Let’s see.

Not a foundation, but it is something that I’ve wanted to try for awhile now! I like it…when used in moderation. 😉

Yeah, this was after I had to wipe down the dresser. This foundation spilled everywhere when I opened it. Super runny. Yikes!

Out of all of these, the ones that worked best on my face (with the summer tan – thanks, car windows! 😉 ) were two of the Joe Blasco foundations. Honey and Moon Haze both seemed to work fairly well. Neither was a perfect match, but they were the closest. The Face Atelier foundation was more liquidy (is that a word? It is now.) than I’d expected, which resulted in me being extra surprised when it spilled all over the dresser when I opened it. 😦 I can probably use the Golden Olive 3 as a concealer, and once the winter “paleness” sets in, I’ll try the Yaby again. It’s one of those that also seems to oxidize on the face. Maybe it’s just me. If you’ve used any of Yaby’s foundations, please let me know if this has happened to you!

Late, Late, Late! Lipstick.

I am so sorry for the month long gap in posting. I had to make a last minute trip to Nova Scotia and was gone for a few weeks, but now I’m back! And my luggage is finally back as well! Winter weather, delays, and flight cancellations will do that to a person. 😦

Anyhoo, on to the lipstick! All of these were bought from Sephora last month for my birthday (see the last post). I didn’t use a lip liner with any of these, as I was in a hurry. Also, there may be smudging…or lipstick bleeding over the edge…or not enough lipstick in the middle. Ignore it. I was tired. Don’t judge me. Hahaha! 🙂

So, I like all of the colors, but my favorite is still the Homegirl lipstick. It just works for me…which is why I keep buying it. 😉 I will work with the other two colors some more, maybe add a lipliner, or even blend with other colors to see if I can get a color that I really love out of it. Mix and match, y’all, mix and match. 😀
