Birthday Goodies: Sephora, and a Kat Von D mishap!

Alrighty then! My birthday was last weekend, so I decided to go up to the city for a little bit and pick up a free gift from Sephora (yay for the Beauty Insider program, right? If you’re not a member, get on it! It doesn’t cost you anything!). This year’s free gift was a mini lip treatment set from Fresh.

Fresh Sugar Kisses Mini Lip Duo:

While I was there, I decided that I needed a new lipstick…okay, I didn’t need a new lipstick, but it sounded like a good idea at the time!

Kat Von D Painted Love Lipstick in Homegirl:

Now, I will say that I love this color. Love. But did you notice something about the lipstick? If not, don’t fret. I’ll fill you in. See the tape surrounding the base of the lipstick? It’s there because as soon as I took the lid off of the lipstick and twisted it so that the lipstick would rise, this happened:

Uh huh. The lucite bottom literally fell off. Now, I am not a heavy handed person. Not in the least. But this is just silly. I did some research online, and I am definitely not the only person that this has happened to. I hope that the company realizes that there’s an issue and goes back to the drawing board when it comes to the design of this product. I could take it back and exchange it for one that is, you know, whole, but considering that I live 45 miles away from the nearest Sephora, well, tape will have to do. Hopefully some changes will have been made by the time I need to grab another one. Outside of that, I really do love this color! *sparkles*

And you know that little stand full of goodies that sits just in front of the registers? Yeah, they got me again! I had to pick up this Josie Maran Glow on the Go set. It was calling me. Argan oil and highlighted skin for the win. πŸ˜‰

Birchbox November 2012

It’s that time again! Yes, this month’s Birchbox has arrived, and I’m pretty pleased with this one. The Birchbox Team decided that since this is the month of November, that they would focus on the theme of “Give.” Included in this month’s Birchbox is a small purple box that you can reuse by filling it with something that you want to give to someone that you care about. On the back of the box is a checklist of reasons why you’re giving the gift to the recipient, and you just check whichever one applies! You can fill it with products, little odds and ends, or even cookies! The point is to give, and to give thanks for those who are in your life. πŸ™‚

Okay, on to the contents!

Masqueology Revitalizing Eye – gel masks to put under the eyes when it looks like the night got the best of you! I haven’t tried them out yet, but I’m looking forward to it. I really like Masqueology’s products…

Masqueology Masque Cleanse – will try this soon…

Masqueology 7D Moisture Cream – and will try this after I try the Masque Cleanse. πŸ˜‰

Kiehl’s Creme de Corps – love this. Enough said. πŸ™‚

Stila All Over Shimmer Liquid Luminizer – I haven’t tried this one either, but I am just hoping that it works well with my skin tone. There’s a 50/50 shot, here…

MCMC Fragrances in Phoenix – I. Love. This. Fragrance. I mean, I just…I can’t even. *sprays wrists* I love it. I will be sticking my wrists in people’s faces for a few days just so they can get a whiff of this scent. πŸ™‚

Kiss Ever Pro Lashes Starter Kit – Influenster

Hey there! So I finally tried out these faux lashes from Kiss (http://www.everezlashes.com/home) that came in the complimentary Influenster VoxBox last month. Now keep in mind that I don’t wear false lashes very often. I have several pairs hanging out in a drawer, just waiting to be worn, but I never seem to get around to it. But today…today was a faux lashes kind of day. Even if they were only worn around the house. πŸ˜‰

Yeah, my placement could have been better. Haha! In all honesty, they were a little too “full” for my liking, but it could also be because my eye area is sensitive, and the more there is to a lash, the heavier my eyelids feel. The heavier my eyelids feel, the more likely I am to rip said lashes off and call it a day. They looked fine from the front and from the sides. But looking down from the top? No. Not the look for me.

I really liked the applicator that came in the kit, and the eyelash glue was great – not messy, and had a firm hold, yet was easy to remove. At least you know that your lashes aren’t going anywhere until you want them to! πŸ˜€

All in all, this wasn’t a bad deal. I would definitely try it out again if the lashes come in a more “natural” look. πŸ™‚ You can grab a kit at Walgreens

Tuesday Randomness: Hair Edition

I am growing my hair long again, after taking scissors to it time and time again over the last two years or so. I cut my hair really short in May of 2010, and kept it short-ish for roughly a year. Then I realized how much I missed being able to put my hair in a ponytail. And here we are. πŸ˜‰

Air dried in a bun…

I haven’t taken scissors to it since May of this year (last actual cut was back in February, this was just to even it out), and I’m trying not to cut it again for another year. We’ll see how this goes.

My hair grows fairly quickly, so my next 6 month goal will be this length when pulled to the front:

I’m wearing a wig, y’all! πŸ™‚

Let’s see how this goes! πŸ™‚
