Sewing Projects On The Horizon…

Happy Sunday/Almost Monday! Vogue Patterns (http://voguepatterns.mcall.com) had another one of their lovely, lovely sales over the weekend – all of the patterns were $3.99, which is much better than their regular prices. I ordered four patterns, and when they arrive, it’s ON! I haven’t done any sewing projects in awhile, and I really need to get back to it. Here’s what I bought:

Hopefully these turn out well! We shall see. I will post each one when they’re finished! *thinking* I wonder if this constitutes as a Summer challenge…

DIY Slouchy Clutch in Black

So there’s this pouch/clutch, right? And I love it. I just don’t want to pay what they’re asking for it. So you know what that means! It’s project time!!!

(first version w/messed up zipper!)

I found a YouTube video on how to make your own American Apparel pouch, and of course it brings the cost so far down it’s not even funny. It costs less to make your own, and I’m always down for a new project! 😉 Thankfully this is extremely simple, and I promise that it isn’t time consuming.

DIY AA Pouch!

I couldn’t find what I needed locally, so I went to JoAnn fabrics and picked up a 14 inch zipper. I’m mad that I had to drive 40 miles to find the style of zipper that I wanted in the length that I needed, but that’s another story for another day. I mean, really. It’s a zipper. *grumble grumble* So I used the same instructions as in the previously mentioned video, but I decided to add a lining to it as well. And it’s pretty. 🙂

Circle Skirt Practice Run

Okay, so I finally went ahead and did the hem on the skirt. I’m not entirely happy with it, but I am never completely satisfied when it comes to sewing something for the first time. I need to correct a small issue with the zipper, but other than that, it’s done. However, I am looking forward to wearing this one (and the ones to come!) when the weather warms up again. The color is definitely different when you take photos in a mirror, but that just means that I need to learn how to take proper sewing project/outfit photos. 😉

It doesn’t look like much, but it’s not bad:

Next time I’ll make it either this length or shorter:

But not so short that I can’t sit down properly. That’s just not comfortable. 😉

Upcoming Sewing Projects…Eventually

I am finally sort of in the mood to sew again. Considering that I haven’t touched the sewing machine since October, it’s probably time. Vogue Patterns had a sale a few weeks ago that was quite lovely (many of the patterns were only $3.99 as opposed to $19!). I put plenty of patterns into my cart, but for some reason…I didn’t hit the purchase button. I figured, “Oh, I have time, I can wait!” And of course everything is back to their regularly schedule pricing now. The good news is that Vogue Patterns has these sales quite often, so I’ll catch them on the next run.

Patterns to buy and work on:

V1314 (1)

V1314 (Tracy Reese)

V1234

V8241

I also seem to feel the need to make a tulle skirt. Why? I have no idea. But they’re just so pretty!
